My current audio kit comprises of:
Alpine 9851R Head Unit
JBL 300W 2 Channel Amp - GTO Series
JBL 12" Sub - GTO Series
Infinity 6510cs Components (Front).
The sub is using up valuable boot space, I use the car for work and carry loads of tools etc. It's getting to the point where I would use the space taken up by the sub.
With the sub removed the sound is a bit flat, I have the sub configured correctly and it's not some chavvy mega bass. Without it the sound is not as good.
What I wanted to know was, if I used the amp to power the front components how would this effect the sound they produce. The HU's integral amp's are not meant to be too bad. Would amping help compensate for the lack of sub?
The other option is to build a custom enclosure but the Mondeo (estate) boot is pretty square so no real cubby holes it could fit into.
Cheers,
Chris
