Just had total Fibre fitted and where the old BT line comes into the house there are four big black pipes containing Phone and Cable TV incommers .

Now the Cable TV is Dead so removed those but the old phone cables I wish to cut back to the floor but something tells me there could be 50v on the lines ................any ideas guys ?? dont really want to blow myself up

Well dont stick them across your tongue and you will be alright.
I was soldering the line connectors coming into my house the other to extend the master socket into a cupboard and it never bothered me, the current passed is so low.

You will be fine, the only way you will notice owt is if you stick them in your mouth you shouldn't notice just holding them.

The current available is what?? under 50 milliamps - just cut them and heat shrink or terminal block the bare ends up individually.

Take photos of what you have if you're unsure. You aren't allowed to just cut your main incoming BT cable.

I've had a few phone line shocks, they're similar to electric livestock fences. Not gonna kill you. Make sure your hands are dry and you'll be good. If you wanted the line reactivating openreach would do this when you sign up to a new provider. You shouldn't get charged extra (unless you tell them you're the one that's cut it).

Sorry the pictures are a bit mixed up but you get the idea .
Incummer cable was coiled up insulated and pushed down the pipe after cutting the pipes flush with the floor .All other services chopped out as redudant

I woul dlike to thanks all who posted and I have all my fingers still
