removing orbs / lens flare

howdy. on my never ending quest to learn, i'm now looking at how best to remove lens flare.

in particular on this image, i know how to do it on areas of the same colour - but am not sure of the best approach when there is detail behind the orb.

obvisouly, it's cropped and that isn't the full image - but it's one my brother has taken and is considering entering to this months competition, so don't wanna go posting the whole thing!

am also considering buying this book:

Adobe Photoshop CS2 for Photographers (ISBN-10: 0240519841) Any views on that, is it worth the money?

2 options,
clone other areas into the shapes you can see behind the flare
or lasso areas and adjust its brightness and hue to match

its do able

is that zoomed in using digital zoom or the cropping?

looks quite grainy possible bad compression?

Had a little play - not remotely perfect (or even finished) but it shows roughly what can be achieved.

I just clone brushed areas that looked similar over the offending flare.

Have a play and you'll see how easy it is!
