Removing residue after taking side strips off

Hi all,

I've taken off my side strips etc as i'm going to colour code them. However i'm left with 2 lengths of sticky stuff down the sides. I want to get this off, so when it comes to putting the strips back on, they sit flush.

I've sat there with a hairdryer and an old credit card which gets the top layer off but there's still a fair bit on.

Any ideas? Thanks.

No home remedies that I can use? Would like to get it finished asap and I don't have any of that Goo Gone stuff, never seen it in any shops either.

Something like this do the job? Can pop upto my local Motosave on my lunch.

I must have tried around 15-20 motofactors, car accessory type places, tool companies and no-one has any, most people dont seem to have a clue what they are!
