I've got a couple of small chips in the windscreen already and today I managed to put a 2inch scratch in it whilst washing it :( .

Can autoglass sort scratches as well as chips? Worth a go?

toothpaste isnt going to be as abrasive as that to get scratches out of glass.. if that was the case just think that it'd do to our teeth! i think youre getting confused with hickeys tbh ;)

There have been a few times when I have arrived at a new customers home to find that construction crews or previous window washers have left scratches on the windows. I have found that the following method works well on very small scratches. For larger/deeper scratches the window will need to be resurfaced by a professional or replaced.

To remove scratches from glass / windows:

First wipe the class clean using a soft lint-free cloth.
Then smear toothpaste over the glass and make sure it completely covers the scratch.
Squeegee off any excess toothpaste with a new razor-blade.
Let the toothpaste dry thoroughly
Polish with a soft dry cloth

Toothpaste. Rub a little toothpaste into the scratch. (Normally geltype pastes are not as effective as regular pastes.) Polish with a soft cloth.

It works very well on light scratches like i said.

ahaa you use the toothpaste as a filler for the scratches and not a compound to grind down the edges of the scratch to blend it in... phew :p

Can be used as both, depends on the scratch, on light scratches perhaps caused by accident (bit of dirt on a rag) the cutting action of the toothpaste will actually remove it.

One guy above uses it to fill in then polish out the scratch, that one is new on me but he and other claim it works.
