k ive just installed XP Home, a genuine original CD with a genuine key, but its not letting me get any updates and it says i have 30 days to activate?? How do i remove it?

its not letting me install windows with it. I browsed the CD to get it and wrote it down but installing windows it says the key is invalid

i thought it let me before but that must have been xp pro.

This is a genuine original (not a backup) XP Home cd im using so how can the key not be valid?? do u think its expired?

It must be a restore disk that was provided with the computer if the key is on the disk. OEM's put an install script in the unattended folder on the CD so you don't have to do anything to restore your installation. The only thing I can think of is that your installing it on different hardware to what the disk was provided with.

thats what i followed to get it. i cant find my dads digi cam to take a pic but im telling ya if it werent genuine i would say it was a backup or something. it doesnt say restore on the CD, its just like one big hologram (Windows XP Home Edition version 2002)

yea its not mine i didnt buy it i just borrowed it as im having issues with XP Pro. the guy i got it from works with computers and doesnt do fakes. i did ask him about the key and he said he thinks it didnt need one...but yea it does.

I'll take a pic of it tomorrow and then you can decide but if it is fake then its the best ive ever seen all the writing and stuff is perfect and its a holgram and it aint "stuck on" . it does have like a dodgy green outline though ...
