removing thermal paste from cpu

do i just need a dry cloth or tissue to remove the thermal paste of the cpu when i remove radiator?

No you want a TIM cleaner. I use Akasa TIM clean which is citrus based (smells lovely )

Get some > isotropic alcohol for cleaning, chemist should have some.

I've just been using nail polish remover and kitchen roll for years and never had a problem. The kitchen roll is prob not the best choice to rub with but it works

+1 for IPA...got a bottle from chemist for £5 near 10 years ago bow and still got a third left I use cotton buds...give good scrub till no more black on bud...takes a good while to clean proper...and dont use too much as best not to soak cpu in it

I have the Akasa stuff but honestly. I don't see why tissue won't do an adequate job.

I just use kitchen roll, not sure TIM cleaner adds much.

I find kitchen roll alone just spreads it out and wont completely remove it. TIM cleaner just liquefies it
