Any advice on methods for this one would be welcomed.

I have found myself needing to move out of my home following a seperation and have had to find a rented property. First time I have ever rented. I have two dogs, which has made it more difficult.

Found a place, seemed OK ish.... kind of "as you would expect" of a rental where someone want's to invest as little as possible for maximum return......... Bare minimum kind of thing.

Got the keys last week. Place needed a good clean. Been empty a long time.... some issues with windows, clearly had some damp at some point.

Anyhow, disocvered some poor plumbing under the kitchen sink which had been leaking so pulled up the lino to dry the floor out, only to discover all around the back door was soaking wet and it stank of dog pee.

I soaked them with 2l of thin bleach, set a dehumidifyer away (now been running for 5 days) and once they were dry, covered them in bicarbonate of soda overnight.

I now cant decide if they still smell of wee or not. The house was quite "musty" with it having been sat empty with no heating on and no proper ventilation and I can't decide if it's still just that I can smell or the wee. I hadn't noticed the smell of wee until after I had pulled up the lino.....

I have another 4 days or so before I properly move in, so have time to carry out further treatment.............. Anything anyone can recommend for this?

I know in reality this is down to the agents to sort, but I just want it done before I move in at the start of next week and I'd rather just do it myself rather than get into a to-and-fro with them.

TIA

Freshly ground coffee sprinkled over the area and allowed to sit for as long as you want, assuming it's not a massive area.

Not urine but I have had great success getting rid of smells with white vinegar. My gym clothes, mixer that i do protein shakes in, its really worked well.

White Vinegar like ezekial says, sprinkle some baking soda on it too, but maybe do a test patch first. Though if you've already tried bleach then it should ve fine.

Also search the address on the EPC register, if it doesn't have a valid EPC certificate (A-E) you can have them for that as well.

This works really well.............

Envii Pet Fresh – Effective Pet Urine Stain & Odour Remover, Strong Enzyme Cleaner & Natural Deodoriser for Dog & Cat Urine, Faeces & Stains...

Bleach will kill any organisms, but it's not great at getting rid of odours, as above either a specialized pet odour remover (usually enzymatic), or cover in baking soda and leave for 24+ hours
