Removing X1900XTX Cooler?

Its so simple you wont believe it.

Unplug fan connector

Just undo all the screws , simple as that really and then gently pull away the cooler from the GPU

I dont know about the rest of you but I always remove the cooler and throw some Arctic Silver 5 on.. lowers temps by 2-3C sometimes :)

To make is easier I would run a loop or two of 3d mark and then shutdown the pc quickly. The hotter the glup the easier it should come off.

Unscrew. Remove. Shred. Burn. Dance around 3 times with 1 leg in the air while chanting kumbaya. Theyre that bad. So bad that theyll actually make the GPU overheat and crash in a well vented case @ 20c ambient with a recent enough game that uses enough SM3.0 stuff.

lol done now, ive taken stock cooler and put arctic cooler etc on my 6800gt about a thousand times so im not a noob at it, juts dont wanna mess my £311 card up :p

its all done, it came off so easily tbh, i guess cos it hadnt even been on once

i did have afew probs with the ram sinks tho, they came off my watercooled 6800gt, all went on fine but 1 kept falling off, didnt have any more thermal pads so just put a very tiny dab of thermal paste, seems to have done the job :)
