Renamed 8800 GT pictured.

The motherboard of my old IMB Aptiva E35 had a green PCB. Got it in 1998. It's on the desk next to me now.

If the 8800gt is now renamed-presumably on a resale you can simply refer to it as a 9800despite what it says on the box ? (Stupid stupid labelling).

So the 9800GT is another name for 8800GT OC?

Actually, judging by the cooler on that Elsa model it's likely to be a pre-OC version. Chances are the 9800 GT stock is basically an 8800 GT stock.

Edit: Also, it doesn't appear to support Tri-SLi, the picture only has one connector.

think I'm going to sell my E6600 cpu as an E6850, my 5300 ram as 6400 ram and my 8800GT I'm going to put a sticker on it and sell it off as a 9800GT.

Am I the only one who thinks that someone over in Nvidia Marketing saw what AMD was doing with the 3000 series and decided to mark up the 8900 series as 9000 series cards?

No, not at all, that was one of the first reactions to the 9 series. However, it's now turned:

What nvidia are doing is much, much worse because they're making the same tech more expensive, while AMD made it much cheaper (almost half the price for the 3870) and cut the power consumption loads whilst nVidia just renamed stuff.

There were people who flashed pros to XT's and sold them as such weren't there?

EDIT: Oh shoot double posted sorry. Was on the previous page and didn't notice.

Lol np. I was just referring to the G92 GTX and new 9800GT being just rebadged GT/GTS cards.

Yup, the 2900's went down in price when they were renamed and relaunched, they also got Dx10.1 added. :p

Wonder if this is the mass market revival of the ELSA brand. Remember they used to be big around Geforce 2/3 era.

I've noticed the 8800GTS have gone up in price too over the last few days, mine went up by £10 overnight when I bought it last week....

9800GTS loadsa ?
