Hi

I need to rename a group of files in snow leopard and can't seem to find the way to do it. It tiger I would just highlight the files then press enter and type the new title in, then the os would ad (+1) to the end of each file but the feature has seem to disapper?

Thanks

cheers mate, but I can't believe they would remove such a feature.. but having said that I've been playing around with X-3 at work and M$ been working hard moving stuff around and removing features too...

Is a bit strange, when I saw your post I did remember having done it in 10.2, but not since then. But then I don't remember having tried. I missed out 10.3 so I don't know if it was in 10.3 but I'm certain it wasn't in Tiger.

You could always look at Automator - it's designed for things like this. The result can be added to your menu or even as a drag and drop application on your dock. You can even make it a folder action so that the folder would automatically rename the file into the sequence on dropping into it.

Automator is powerful and it wouldn't surprise me if that name mangler was an automator based application.

Although I didn't realise you could make it a folder action......oh the fun I could have with that on my brothers Imac:D
