Hi there,

I have 2 drives, 1 of which is partition into 3 parts, the other is whole...

Anyways I just formatted my PC and the drive letters are confused..

Take a look Drive Letters

I want the current D: to be F: and the current E: to be the D: and the current F: to be E:

How can I do this?

Thanks

Here's how to find it on XP, should be similar on other flavors of windows.

Control Panel,

Administrative Tools,

Computer Managment,

Disk Management,

You can then right click on any of the drives and change the letters. Don't change your main OS drive.

Most of the major applications such as MS OFFICE, my antivirus, malwarebytes, spybot, firefox etc etc

If any of the programs rely on the registry and you're moving the drive letter they were originally installed on they will most likely be broken, I'm sure you could spend some time writing a script to autocorrect everything but more than likely more effort than just flat our reinstalling the programs.

Don't do it

Best way is to install Windows with only one drive connected. Then add any extra drives and use Disk Management to assign/alter the drive letters

Changing them after using the system, if you use them as anything besides data drives will always end in tears
