Renaming my mac

Anyone know a good program to rename it? I tried one that came from a Google search but it failed and told me my OS is the wrong type. It's currently firstnamelastname and I want to to be firstname only.

Late 2011 13" Pro running 10.7.3.

Open Settings > Sharing > Computer Name

You can't change the short name of your user account (I'm not sure if that's what you're asking though).

You can but its a bit of a pig.

The simplest way is probably to just create a new user account then transfer everything accross you want and delete the old account when you've finished.
