That unit is really crap, I mean really really really crap. You may be able to find a unit compatible, if not you will have to run the speakers though an amp.
Not being funny but you need to steer clear of Halfords mate or you'll end up with a chaved out piece of carp.

When I put a new headunit in my 197 it didn't work with the LCD screen nor the steering column controls, there was the ability to make it work with the controls but was pretty expensive (about £50 for the cables and I'm a tight git) and also was apparently a massive ballache to fit.
The LCD screen won't stop working entirely though, on mine it just continued to show the clock and temperature.

Lol im using that place as a guide to what i want as its an easy site to use, im not buying a thing from there bar my autoglym stuff 
I wouldnt mind one with a screen and sat nav.
So you can get it to be compat? Id pay to get it done properly as im intending to keep the car for a very long time I love it.
I know a few people who could do it anyway if i gave them the right stuff..

Yes, because plugging in 4 plugs in the back of a headunit in a French car is totally different and more prone to failure than in a German car.
Its not like hes messing around with the ECU or changing somethings thats going to stop the car from working
Don't get a Ripspeed unit, its pains me to see these for sale because all the rudeboys go round with them, i've had a play with that unit when i was bored in halfords and vs a proper single din satnav solution its laughable.
Back in 2004 i fitted an expensive Kenwood unit to my 2003 Clio, i got the autolinks (iirc) adapter which made the stalk and screen work, really good feature but it wasn't cheap to do, i think Pioneer offer similar connectivity with an external interface box.

For about £45 you can get it to work with the steering wheel controls but the screen will display "alpine" or whatever brand of stereo you buy. It says things like "vol up" and stuff when you press a control, but wont display the track name, time etc.
They are easy to fit, the only hard bit is moving the wires in such a way that you can push the unit back in, theres not much space there once you add the stalk control unit thing

Mine did, it displayed the track number for cd's or for mp3 cd's it would display the full track name which scrolled across the screen.

I've ripped quite a bit or wire out of my Pug and replaced a lot it over the years...
If anything, getting a French car makes a dab hand with a soldering iron!
Invest in a better make like alpine or pioneer does it have to have a great big lcd screen just get a sat nav seperate! The majority of good lcd flip screens go from 5-600+ go to talk audio forums for help they should help you out better there
