Renault Clio problem

This evening when driving home the "Toxic fume filter system" warning light (quote the manual: "this light comes on when the ignition is switched on then goes out") started to flash on the dash of my wife's '56 plate 1.4 Clio.

Recently the car has also been running a bit rough on idle.

Bit of Googling suggests one (or more) of the ignition coils have broken and suggest replacement.

Wondered if people thought this was the case or if there might be another reason?

As for fixing it, if people think it's the coils then I'll probably do them myself. I can find replacements for between £20-£35 each online - good spares shops recommendations welcomed...

Thanks for any help

I recommend the fully sealled type made by Marvel, they dont suffer the rusting/tracking problems of the ushally weak renault pencil coils, there so good I use them on my bike and they hang out in a weather prone area. I got them off the bay. about £11 each iirc.
they come with a three year guarantee as well.

Cheers, I'm going to get the multimeter out tomorrow and see if any are obviously duff. However it'll cost about £35 just for Renault to connect their computer apparently. So for a total of £44 it's worth a punt on the bay :)
