Hey guys,

My mother recently changed her car, (a 65 plate Renault Clio) about a week ago. After day one the "spanner" icon on the dash suddenly popped on, along with the "ABS" and "skidding car" lights..and the dash instead of showing the milage reads out : "Check hill start assistance"?

She is booked in by the company we bought it on for the 22nd of this month  and since yesterday things have gotten a lot worse and worry for my mother or me to be driving..

When trying to pull away the car judders really really badly and requires a cringe-worthy high revving to pull away without a stall..

Can anyone please let me know what this could possibly be as the company we are with have been very passive about this situation.

Thanks guys!

Far from a mechanic but it sounds like something reasonably simple like a faulty ABS sensor. They're linked to the hill start so that when you pull away they'll deactivate the brakes.

as above be careful as sounds like a fault in the abs, not allowing the brakes to come off for hill start so possible will cause wear on clutch/and or brakes. wouldnt want to drive with it like that maybe they could fetch the car?
