My Renault Laguna (2001), has a credit card key, and yesterday the 'lock' button broke. If i shake the card i can hear something is loose inside.
Anyone know how i can solve my problem, as Renault in their ultimate french wisdom have not implemented for such a thing as a broken remote and i cannot lock the doors. The car is totally vulnerable.

Other than going to Renault who will charge me a fortune and have the car for days, does anyone have any idea what i can do about it?

Cheers

is there not a little button on the door handle that does the same?

do you not have a 2nd card?

my mums megane II has both those things...

On my dad Laguna, there is a small key built into the remote card, it just pulls out, you then remove the plastic cover on the passenger side door handle, this will let you open or lock the car.

Yup, the little key locks and unlocks the passenger door only, but that's it!
The only way i've found, is you can turn a little screw-like switch on the inside of each door. This only allows the doors to be opened from the inside. So do that to the 3 other doors, then use the key on the passenger door.
Ridiculously complicated AND dangerous, if you decide to continue using the car.

I've since found a few blogs/forums that details how to re-solder the button joint back on as its a very common problem. Even an ebay vendor selling repairts for £20. Not bad i suppose.

Thanks for your input. :)

I have never locked my cars doors anyway (well unless my laptops in it or something).
Never had anything or a car stolen, so don't fret too much.

Order a replacement key or as previously mentioned get someone to repair it.

If you do have a car stolen, that admission could be grounds for your insurance company to refuse to pay out.

I do forget to lock mine every so often. Last night for instance :p Not had anything taken but I guess I'm just lucky, you can blatantly tell when it's unlocked because of the door pins.

 Are you kidding?!??!?! You NEVER lock your doors?

Where do you live Buckingham Palace?
No, swindon, I never lock my doors because my first few cars had dead central locking so I never got into the habit. So say my doors are meant to lock after 5 minutes of me being gone but never come back to it locked and tbh I aint fussed.
If I remember i'll lock them but if I don't I wont.

Plus no one is going to nick my car, I would have thought E90 beemers are hard to nick.

Whooo! Swindon!

Dammit Pitchfork, you should put Swindon in your Location and unless you live in Broome Manor or with those big houses off Mead Drive then I'd lock your doors. :p
