Hello chaps,

Just a quicky, I'm looking to render some lego blocks for a marketing campaign and want a free and easy way to draw them. I've had a look at Sketchup, which seems quite nice, but what is it like at exporting decent quality renders?

I want a nice white room with shiny floor and the blocks to sit on that. I could draw this myself in Illustrator, but I think it would be a better quality if I export it from a cad program.

Thanks!

There is a program called Leocad which lets you build Lego models out of bricks and then export to a variety of formats. For example you could export to .POV and then render it using POVRAY.

Do you need this urgently? I can't promise to do it quickly (or at all) but I can have a go for you in Maya or something, maybe. I don't have it installed atm tho.

Thanks for the offer Jono, but don't worry about it. I'm going to have to come up with multiple designs for this campaign so the number of changes make that unmanageable.

I've tried out LeoCAD with POVRay, and getting some results. But then I've also drawn some in Illustrator and gotten some results that way too. Just working out what I like best. Will try sketchup too.
