Rendering thread exception?

Does anyone know what the fatal error - rendering thread exception refers to, or what it is a sign of (hardware / software issues)? I'd never seen it before today, but it has popped up five times now. 3 times in Arkham Knight, which to be fair is a bit of a mess anyway, but also twice in The Witcher 3. I'm hoping this isn't symptomatic of some kind of hardware failure:( I'm assuming it's gpu related..

System -
980ti, AMD 8350, 16gb Ram, EVGA NEX650G psu.

Temps are all within normal levels. I will endeavour to get a screen shot when it happens again, which will likely be soon....

Any help, greatly appreciated.
Thanks
James.

I normally see that if I push my overclock too far.

It's happened to me once or twice on Arkham Knight.

Was stable as anything until the last 1/4 of the game, but also could be related to Windows 10 Tech preview updating from 10130 to 10162

It's just happened again in AK and although it was a fatal error, no other information relating to it appeared. The card (an OcUK ref design) is not overclocked as far as I'm aware. I'll have to monitor it.
