Renewed disgrace of my area

I live in west Belfast, and often complain about my car insurance being so high, but now i can guess why.

I was walking down the road earlier (falls road for those who live in the NI) and me and my friend seen a 2005-06 Porsche (not sure what year, but it looked brand new) with southern Irish plates, and the guy talking on his mobile, i said to my friend that he looks lost, as you wouldn't see that sort of car often, and the fact he was on his mobile.

Just there i got a taxi home from my friends house and drove past some demolished bollards on the centre, and side of the road, i remember walking past them earlier and they were fine. So i asked the taxi driver if he knew what happened, and he says hes not sure, but there was a brand new Porsche burnt out on the duel carriage way (road not far from where i live) looks like the guy asked the wrong folks for directions, but needless to say i was shocked, it couldn't have been any other guy, and i feel for him, I'm sure he's having a **** night.

Unfortunately, this sort of thing can happen anywhere. It's horrible to see it close to your own home though :(.

This has been going on for years. I had to do a job in the early hours of new years day a couple of years ago in Poleglass. As I was driving into Poleglass I was overtaken by a Ferrari 575 being driven by what looked like a 15 year old. I seen it on fire beside a Jag on my way back a few hours later.
Sure the last time I was walking through Andytown, pretty much every car looked like it had been stolen :p

What they've been doing recently is stealing a crap car in Belfast, driving down the M1 to Lurgan / Moira, stealing a fancy car from one of the nice estates and then joyriding the whole way back to Belfast. Looks like they're heading over the border now.

Ahha scuzi, i was hoping you were from around these parts, but i had never asked. Luckily not many cars are stolen from my area, they are just burnt out here. Do you think the insurance company will lower my premium if i tell them that? :p

Somehow I don't think it. Insurance was a killer for me. When I had my 1.4 Escort I was paying £2500 TPFT and when I upgraded to an '01 Passat TDi that jumped to £3200 TPFT. Insurance is a complete disgrace. Now that I'm in England I can afford insurance on a Grp 15 car, still a rip off though :(

£2400 for a 1.4 astra, which i exchanged for a 2.0 8v from a GTE, but i still got rid of it anyway because of the insurance, private taxi's works out cheaper for getting to work and back.

I wish that somehow these scum that would do this sort of thing could be washed away, but i guess its the same story for every city.

i dont get it?

what the porche crashed into the things? whats that got to do with asking the wrong people for directions?

Joy riding, it's pretty popular over in West Belfast round Poleglass and all. When I lived in the Donegal Rd years ago people used to come down from the Falls Rd and Andystown to get some cars.

Then the local brigiders  decided to put a stop to this and, I felt slightly sorry for the people caught in the act.

But then I don't have much respect or time for joyriders.
