Folks,

Does anyone here use rental companies still for games - I used to use SwapGame back in the day and feel like renting again and getting back into some xbox and some achievement whoring (it's been a long time)...

Are there any other options about - anyone had any first hand experience?

Much Love

Used love film for a year and a half. Great service if you have the time to play the games and stuff and it was about £18.99 a month for unlimited rentals with 3 discs at a time and that included games and DVD.
I've only had one game arrive that wouldn't work (reported it and they sent another out the same day to replace it) and somehow they misplaced a game I sent to them that was in the same envelope as a game they received but didn't give any hassle for it. The service has always been good in my experience and I frequently got brand new games with very little wait (you don't get them all the time but you get them enough). All in all if you think the price is worth the amount of discs and use you'd get for it then I'd say it's a great service.

You can pay in advance to save a little money too.

Boomerang are all right if you want to explore the back catalogue. But they are a cut above the rest because they have the priority service which gets you new games pretty quickly, sometimes even on the day of their release so I love them loads. :D

Sorry for the bump, but im just wondering what everyones experience is comparing Boomerang and Lovefilm?

Currently im signed up to both (Boomerang = 1 at a time, Unlimited £9.99, Lovefilm = 4 a month, 2 at a time £9.99). Boomerang were good when i signed up because they sent out Dead to Rights Retribution on Saturday (signed up on Friday evening i think) and i got it on Monday. However i returned the game last Thursday morning, they only registered it as received on Saturday morning and have yet to ship anything else out to me. I have 10 games on the list and its set to "Balanced", so it should be a quick turnaround. I'm giving the benefit of the doubt since it was Bank Holiday weekend and obviously yesterday didn't count, but still, they had all of Saturday to post.

I signed up to Lovefilm yesterday and put all the same games on the list that i had on Boomerang, just to compare. Now i set ODST to high because i want to try the Reach Beta and also Metro 2033 to high (just to hurry Lovefilm up since they send out 2 at a time), the rest are set to Low. Now this morning, i check the website and they have completely ignored my priority settings and have sent out Call of Juarez and Riddick: Dark Athena. I have nothing else on the list apart from games, so im a little miffed that they just ignore my priority choices and send out something random.

Boomerang should send something today, i think they email you and update their website around 4pm after deliveries, so ill see if ODST comes since its at Number 1.

Im just wondering, if people have faced priority problems with either company like i have? ODST isn't a new game and there is no demand for it on either site (doesn't say "this may take awhile" or anything), so im just wondering like, what the...?

I find Boomerang to be a bit slack on anything other than the Unlimited Priority package. It took them 10 days to send me a disc when I was on the basic Unlimited One. Admittedly I did only have 4/5 titles in the list but they were the only ones I wanted to play!

I never had any turn-around problems with Boomerang when I was with them, however this was before they launched their Priority package; so things may of changed now :(

Boomerang best iv used, and you can purchase the games if you want to keep them pretty cheaply, they send case and manual through the post.

Still nothing yet from Boomerang. Getting a bit ridiculous really. Game sent back on the 29th and still nothing new sent out.

Lovefilm didn't send out my high priority choice, but at least they sent me something the day i registered (well it was yesterday, but it was a bank holiday so it doesn't count).

Well being as you sent it back Thurs it may not of arrived till today of Friday at best and being as its been a BH today would be the very earliest they could send you something.

They received it on Saturday morning at 11am odd. Meaning they had all of Saturday and all of today to send something, so they are late. Gonna cancel near the next payment date, may as well use the rest of the time i got with them.

i was with boomerang and cancelled my account after only a month or two as it was taking them almost two weeks to send a new game out, i'm now with swapgames

Really? Damn that sounds bad.

What are Swapgames like? Been reading around and they seem quite good. Are they quick with new releases and high priorities?

oh for gods sake i have no idea now :( People are saying each is good and bad I just can't choose between them.

It is annoying isn't it. I've been reading about each company over the last two weeks trying to find the best. Each one has their good and bad reviews.

For me it seems Lovefilm is the quickest to get them out, but ignore your priority settings. Its good if you don't mind what you get, but if you're after something specific, they aren't that good.

Boomerang tend to send your top choices out first, but the turnaround seems slower unless you opt to pay more for their priority package.
