Hi All,

I have a friend who 10+ years ago was an keen amateur photographer and travelled the world taking some awesome pictures, however they are all on 35mm.

He's really interested in showcasing his work online and perhaps selling prints of a select few but he can't afford a 35mm scanner, or a decent flatbed with an adapter. Does anyone know of a any companies that rent out scanners? I've found a few companies that offer general photographic equipment, but no scanners.

Thanks,

I have seen a lot for sale on the well known auction site where it states that they had been bought just to archive a slide collection and are being sold on again.
You would not lose very much if you scanned the slides fairly quickly and then resold. Maybe much less than renting.

yes, probably the best option, if you can't afford to buy (and keep) one - is to buy as an outlay required to do the job and sell on again. Businesses do this all the time with all sorts of stuff.

Alternatively if your friend doesn't have a lot of slides/negatives to scan, why not get a company to scan them for him?

I'll PM you a link to a company I used that was good value compared to the others (not breaking OCUKs rules on suggesting companies etc etc)

*edit* Ahh...apparently I can't PM yet...not sure why that is...maybe I don't have enough posts or something...?
