Basically, my Dads car has a couple of problems but he cannot get the money to sort it out until next week. He drives it to work seven days a week, and I only use it in the weekend mornings to drive to my Leisure Club and to Football. Basically, he's thinking of renting a car for a week (maximum), as he doesn't want to use public transport. Anyways, if he were to add me as an additional driver (I'm 17, and have my licence), will I be able to drive the car in the weekend? He said it should work, but I thought the minimum age to drive a rental car was 23?

Theres no minium for rental cars it depends on the companies
All of the major* (i phoned couple months ago) ones either its 21+ with their insurance (dependant on class) or 18+ with your insurance but as you arnt either then no..
Prehaps a local firm would allow you but i am fairly sure the phrase when hell freezes over applies
