About August time should be looking to move over to Milton Keynes with my job, this will mean ill bee looking for a place to rent, chances are I'll be going with a co-worker and my girlfriend and sharing a 2 bedroomed house.

Few questions i have, the work place will be at Linford Wood, wheres a good place near there to live?

How much would i be looking at paying per month, what bills should i be considering, how much is council tax and any other things you can recommend

I've found places costing around 525 minus bills which seems very good, any help greatly appreciated

Around there see list below but any area in particular just say (i was/am a delivery driver and have a fair knowledge)

Nice = Bradwell, Bancroft, Giffard Park, Newport Pagnell

Okay = Stantonbury, Wolverton

Not Good = Greenleys, Stacy Bush, Hodge Lee, Heelands, Cnnbrw, Bradwell Common

Two Mile Ash is fairly close by and has a few renting houses iirc.
A chap where I used to work was paying about £400 a month for a room bills inc I think it was.

Great Linford's quite nice too but no idea if there's anywhere to rent round there and I'll imagine it'll be expensive.

Also if your driving it all gets screwed especially the A428 (the main road be where your work would be) between 4.30 and 6ish

Everywhere around the centre in Milton keynes gets busy at rush hour, theres nothing you can do about it. All other times it takes you a maximum of 20 minutes to drive from one side of milton keynes to the other (thats driving like a pansy!).

well if i do get the job then it will be managerial so i'd expect i'd be staying later than 6

What kind of bills should i be listing up to pay and anyone know what council tax would be like?

Yarp but north of the "city" centre seems more screwed than the south (except the a5 roundabout)

C Tax is £112 a month for a band C/3 Bed in some areas although it depends on estate. Also some (well a little) on MK has cable tv/internet

it's a dull soul less city to live in?

With a expensive and massive but slightly useless (in places) bus system plus it has such a low population count for the MASSIVE space it take up

But hey it has concrete cows and a stolen football team so who cares!

I started a job in MK 2 weeks ago, staying in B&B for now near Olney.

Will be keeping an eye on this thread as will be looking for houseshare myself soon and have no idea where is good area! My trip is 18 miles to MK, takes about 40 mins.

woowooowoo =D

come pitch a tent in my garden? *slightly* further from MK than where you are now, but if you're nice I'll let you buy me beers in any one of the pubs near here?

I made the mistake of going out to a works do in MK a thursday night a month ago, there was nobody about anywhere, there were no cars driving about, heck we had to wait ages to get a cab it was that desolate a place! It's good for shopping if you can avoid the busy chav periods, other than that it is not an enjoyable place!

yeah saw the concrete cows in the shopping center :D

<2p>

Lived in MK for 13 months ending last year and quite enjoyed it. Never expereinced that much bother with the traffic unless I was trying to get on J13 on a Friday afternoon.

I rented in Middleton, and then Monkston Park - both really nice areas. I paid £325pm, room only.

Nice place to be, lots of greenery, can get most places quickly, including right in to the awesome shopping centre. The lakes are great to walk (or run) around, and the ski slope is excellent.
