Please no B&Q decking jokes as I've heard them all :p

Right I need to repaint my decking in the garden. At the moment I'm sanding it down but then need to repaint it.

Do I need to buy a seprate sealing paint or buy a decking paint with it in?

Can you recommend any good brands? Or process for re-painting it?

Ronseal do a decking paint, which comes with a fit together mop which you dip in the tray and wipe it on like you would brush a floor very quick we sell it in B&Q and have heard some good reviews about it.

thats up to you, i think the ronseal deck paint is 5yr "does exactly what it says on the tin"

Personally I would not use paint on new decking, as it fades quickly and whenever you clean it with a hose or jet washer it fades even further.

I'd but the seal stuff (the one I got was clear) and just protects the wood.

However if you've already painted it you'll either have to paint again as there's no way you could sand the paint out of the grooves, the ronseal is expensive but its really good stuff, especially the ones that were mentioned above and come with a applicator which you effectively mop the paint on..... saves much back and knee ache!!!

agree, use decking seal only ( some have a stain built in if you need colour ) secking paint looks awful

lool

This isnt new decking - Its already been coloured and although I have most of the colour sanded out there is still little bits of blue colour in there so need to recolour it.

I paint mine every other year with either decking paint or normal fence paint. The roller stuff is very quick but I found it to be expensive and needs more coats than normal wood stain (no jokes :D ), It does fade after a year or so but my 2 9x9 deckings prob take about an hour each every 2 years.
