I have really loved my Canon Powershot S110, which is now 3 years old today.
So the question is, is it worth it to get it fixed, or would you replace it? What do you think Canon would charge to get it fixed?
And if I replaced it, replace it with what? The last comparable Canon Powershot S series was the Powershot S120, which was released in 2013 (just after I bought my S110), but I feel a bit funny about buying a 3-year old camera. Canon don't seem to have produced anything of a similar size or features recently.
Sony's RX100 cameras have a very limited focal length, 24-70mm, and are quite a lot thicker (not necessarily a problem, more concerned with the focal range).
Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS100 is another possibility, large sensor, wide screen, good zoom, but it's quite a lot larger, and the maximum aperture is F2.8-5.9 compared to the S120's F1.8-5.7. Not really sure if I would notice the difference though.
Are there any other options I am missing?
- I've like the fact that it has a larger sensor (1/1.7" compared to previous Ixus camera's 1/2.3").
- Good focal length from a wide 24mm to 120mm
- Compact dimensions 99mm x 59mm x 27mm.
