Hi guys
my MBP failed the disk verification in diskutility and when I repaired it (boot off
OSX disk and running disk util) I lost a lot of settings!! eg. some of my widgets are missing, lost a lot of personalised settings, and even firefox bookmarks!!!

has anyone experienced this before?
Should I worry about it happening again?

cheers

its a huge hassel.
am debating whether to reformat & reinstall OSX

reinstalling it is not much of hassle, but still it takes time to do it and then fine tune your system again

All 10 minutes?

Customising the system is hardly a chore either..

That's if your wiping the disc clean with zeros.. a simple reinstall takes 15mins max ;)

This may be a bit of a long shot but have you tried verifying and repairing permissions in Disk Utility? It could be that due to some form of filesystem corruption that these files have incorrectly-set permissions and thus OS X is unable to read/ write to them and is using a default template of some form.

Thanks for the replies guys.
M0KUJ1N repairing permissions was the next thing i tired, still no joy.

Have just reformatted and reinstalled OSX anyway :D
just downloading updates now and will have to reinstall and re personalise my settings.

thanks again all
