In the very near future I will be upgrading my computer to a Core 2 Duo system. To avoid messing about with reinstalling software and such I know I can do a repair of Windows XP.

Is there something similar I can do with my Ubuntu Edgy installation to avoid a complete format/reinstall?

Cheers for any ideas!

It's not really worth it, I'd always advise a clean install on Windows :p Take a backup of your /home, that should keep all your settings for programs in theree, but then do a reinstall. If you wait a bit, you can catch 7.04 :)

I can't really do a clean install of Windows because I have so many apps and games installed. It would takes absolutely ages to put them back!

If everything is in the /home folder then great I can just back that up :)

If you've got all your samba/xorg settings and such that you're happy with, can take a copy of the config files, then use them as a reference for setting them up again.

It took me ages to get my dual display working, so I'll certainly need to see my old config file when I have to do a reinstall :)
