Is there any option to run a repair install on Windows 7, similar to the XP days? I've tried an over the top install but I just get an error about my current version of Windows being more recent than that on my disc. For the record it's not a start up issue but to do with a bunch of corrupted manifest files as per this thread.

Run a cmd prompt as administrator and type the following command and press Enter;
Code:
sfc /scannow

This will tell your computer to scan itself and repair any damaged Windows files it finds so hopefully this will fix your problem.

If you hit F8 after BIOS but before Windows Logo you should get the option to Repair at the top of the list. You can choose repair when booting from the Windows 7 disc too.

Sfc failed to repair hence manually repairing.

The repair option is the startup and does nothing if use if you can boot into Windows.
