Just wondering if anyone has tried repairing their 3GS iphone. Specifically the back casing. I've just bought a replacement rear case and a couple of plastic pry tools to give it a go since there is a huge crack in the back of the case, if it doesnt work i've got nothing to lose because since i've just upgraded to a 4S any tips you guys know when doing this.

p.s. have read pango's world 3GS battery guide v helpfull

^ erm, don't listen to this garbage for starters, what a load of uneducated tosh :(

Follow this very clear guide here, take your time, carefully and methodically store the screws (I find pressing them on the sticky side of masking tape or PVC tape is perfect) and you'll be fine...

It's fiddly in places, but not too bad. What I will say is be EXTREMELY careful when lifting the screen off (You will need a little suction cup for this) as the ribbon cables near the top of the screen are quite delicate. I've seen these, or in fact the connectors they plug into damaged on several phones I've had to repair because of other people's carelessness.

What I do is hold my thumb over the top of the screen near the earpiece to stop it lifting, place the suction cup just above the home button and gently lift the bottom of the screen. From here you can tilt it upwards whilst keeping a close eye on the ribbon cables.

I'll actually have to agree with Diggsy about what I said. It went through my mind that the back casing came off separately, not thinking.

Sincerest apologies!
