MissesG's laptop is up the spout & I've no idea how/where to get it fixed as it's out of warranty & HP want £249 to repair it even though they don't know what the problem is, loose internal power jack I reckon. Can anyone recommend me someone in the West London area that can help? No competitors of course:)

i dont know of any actual shops but ive seen some people on the old auction site in the past that repaired the power jacks for around 50 quid, there are quite a few companies that repair laptops for a lot less than manufacturers, google is your friend!

Check it's not the power supply wire and not the connector on the laptop itself. I've had two power supplies fail- the negative wired disintegrated when I split the cable up. The connector was fine, after replacing PSU good as new. Use a PSU with identical specs and check

The power cable is fine, it works on another model & we've replaced the battery too:(

Never thought of the auction site, might be worth a butchers:)
