A friend gave me his daughters netbook to have a look at as it wasn't booting.
After trying windows repair etc with no luck I ran the HDD test in bios and it fails after just a few minutes saying the hard drive needs replacing.
It's a "HP Mini 110-1100 Netbook by Studio Tord Boontje - VK945EA"
Seems to be fitted with a WDC WD2500BEVT-60ZCT1 hard drive.
I'm assuming I can take out the faulty one and buy a replacement drive? It's out of warrenty so its either that nothing?
Any idea of suitable replacements?

*Edit*
Seems that model is a scorpio hard drive 2.5" so I'm assuming I can just buy another WD Blue HDD from ocuk. Only problem is loosing the o/s etc. :(

Yep that's going to be the only way. Your going to need to reinstall the OS as you said, nothing to avoid that, make sure the license key is intact though.
