Repairing an itouch screen

Mates daughter downloaded a "light" app that basically turns the screen white and full brightness. She then proceeded to use it more or less continuously until eventually it stopped working. Screen is still there but the backlight isn't on.
Read about and deduced that the backlight is part of the screen so brought a replacement on ebay, just finished changing it over and basically its still the same.

Do you think that she has done some other part of the itouch in, on the board or something?

/edit, reading more it people talk about the inverter on the logic board...

Inverter is on the logic board and will no doubt be the problem. I'm afraid it's 'Lights out' for that iPod!

Ipod touch then!

Found one place selling logic boards, £65. I think the decision has to be his, its a gamble as lots people say its going to be that but of course i'm not risking my own money finding out.
 
Owner has decided to take the gamble on the logic board so i've ordered it.. lets hope its the bit that does the job.
