Could do with a bit of advice on repairing my Mums car, she scraped the rear arch of the car against a wall while she was on holiday. I have given the car a good wash a polish and some of the smaller scratches forward of the arch are hardly noticeable. However the arch is a fairly deep scratch and has gone down to the metal. I bought a scratch repair kit thingy from halfrauds, however I'm not really sure what I'm doing.

I was wondering what the little white thing is (far left in the pic), its not mentioned in the instructions (I don't think?!).

Any advice on doing this or what the mystery item is would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Nice one, looked like a bit of chalk or something to me! :D

Anyone had any success with these kits before I go and make it look worse!

I've used this kit before on a silver car (well, the silver paint version, not the red!!).

The fibre glass is to scrape away the rust, and is very good. Be careful with that.

Don't apply too much of anything (primer, paint or clear lacquer!). The clear lacquer isn't really vital if repairing a tiny scratch or stone chip.

Make sure the cars standard paint work uses red primer and not grey to begin with otherwise it will come out a different colour (deaper red) I did it on my car those kits arent the best! :p

You could always wet sand with 1200 grit paper then lacquer on top but even I get scared doing this and I've done it many times always with reasonable results.
