Repeating Problems with Power Brick

I've had an NX7400 HP laptop for a couple of years now and in the last few weeks, I've had 2 power bricks fail on me... does anyone know why this may be?

The only thing that I can think of that I've been doing differently is I've been connecting through a new cloverleaf cord thingy (the cable that plugs from the wall into the power brick itself), and everything else is constant.

Try another power cord? Preferably a direct HP replacement (ie same part number).

Can the cord itself have an effect? I really thought it wouldn't make any difference, but will only use the "official" cord on the next brick and see how it gets on.

Are the power bricks the direct HP replacement, are they generic and the 2 that blew, were they the same make?

Yeah, both bricks were official hp ones, I replaced like for like.

Yeah, me too, going to try a non-up one, and try returning the 2nd for replacement too... Plus I think I'll lose the 2nd power cable too.

Ac adapters failing is quite common, so to get 2 in a row isn't unheard of, just bad luck i'd say.

I hope so... new one on it's way anyway... I guess I was just wondering if there was something that I hadn't thought of.

maybe your battery is kaput, the charger overheats trying to charge it?

possibly... the battery is holding a charge for a good hour or so if disconnected... can a battery still be borked when this is happening?

The new "generic" adaptor arrived today and all is working fine presently, and a replacement for the other is due to arrive early next week, so i'll soon have 2, and we'll see of one of those goes pop.
