It's been a long time but I once swapped a broken 1.0a 12v DC power supply for a 1.5a one. At the time I asked and was told the device will just draw the power it requires. I was told you can't go lower, e.g. 0.5a as this may make the device unstable or not work and you can't change the volts, but slightly higher amps wont matter.
I'm currently looking to swap an American 12v 0.5a power supply for a UK one, and I still have my Maplin 1.5a one.
Can anyone tell me if this will be ok. It's a slightly bigger jump than before. Are there any risks?
