I currently have a 13" mid 2011 Macbook Air (1.7GHz i5, 4GB Ram, 128GB SSD) which is in near perfect condition (no damage, scratches or marks and only 202 battery cycles).

At no point do I ever feel the laptop lacks anything that I want it to do, and I'm completely happy with the performance - however I'm currently in the US and can get a new 2014 MBA (with the same specifications) for £600~ - is this a worthy upgrade?

How much would my current MBA be worth - I can see eBay sold listings at around £500 but that surely seems too much?

I know the MBA has just been upgrade so now seems like a sensible time to upgrade.

You can essentially answer this yourself: is the doubling (or more) in battery life worth £150 to you? There's little more to it, the performance difference will probably be semi-noticeable but certainly not night and day for "normal" usage (only appreciated in a side-by-side comparison etc).

If the total cost of upgrading costs me £150 then I'm happy with that.

My main concern is if my current Macbook is worth £450?

I'm more than happy to pay £150 every 3 years or so to keep up with a current MBA.

It does seem that they're going for around £450-500, however when you include selling fees on top of that...

So it's more like £150-200 to upgrade. Worth it IMO.

There are rumours of a 12" Macbook Air coming out too so it might be worth waiting to see if anything gets announced for that? I'm in a similar boat to you with my 2011 13" Air, it is still more than capable of everything I use it for but I think a 12" model with Retina display would sway me.
