Hey guys.
Are my two GTX280 such old hat now that a bl**dy 5770 isn't that far behind in 3D Mark06 (default settings). I was quite pleased to see the 5770 do quite well at 15150...until I did the test on my gaming rig (in siggy) which scored just under 15600.

Specs of the 'office' PC:
intel i5-660
8Gb DDR3
80Gb intel SSD
1Gb Samsung F3
1Gb Ati 5770

Maybe I should be be ditching the GTXs for some ATI cards :)

06 is worth nothing when comparing GPU's, it's too CPU bound, your 280's will own a 5770 in most games.

Use vantage to compare GPU's.

3D Mark 2006, REALLY? Have you looked at your calender recently?

A 5770 would certainly not replace GTX280 SLI in terms of performance.

A single GTX280 isn't massively faster than a 5770, but it's not something I would suggest doing.

The minimum upgrade would be 5850 crossfire.

If it were me I would stay put, keep the money in your pocket, take the Mrs out and have a few beers. Your 280SLI still has plenty of life in it :)

Agreed.Do not get rid of your GTX 280s for 2 5770s.It'd be a drop in performance.

If you sold both of your 280s you probably wouldn't have much to add to get 2 5850s.Lots of people pay over the odds for Nvidia cards.

your 280's in sli are a bit quicker than my 295 and I know my card just manages to out perform the radeon 5870 in a lot of benchmarks/games.

If you really want the features of DirectX 11, less power consumption/cooler case temps the 5870 is the closest match to your setup, or you could go for a 5970 and blow everything away!

Failing that stick with your 280's and see what appears on the horizon over the next couple of months......Revised fermis, radeon hd 6*** etc.

Blimey. Struggling with TWO GTX280's? :P

Mate, do yourself a favour and don't bother unless you are desperate for DX11 in which case go for a 5970. Oh and ignore sythentic benchmarks in the main, are your games seriously struggling with your current setup?

as above, i agree with everyone here, SLI 280's should handle most games, is there any games it does not play?

just for referancehere is my 3Dmark06 score with a GTX260 (single OCX), and demonstrates how CPU bound this bench is,

if you decide upgrade only for gtx480 or ati5970, lol ... and only if you want Dx11

What's the point anyway? I am on single gtx280 and everything, but crysis and metro2033 maxed out!

so don't bother, benchmarks is waste of time :p
