Replace 6800GS 256Mb Graphics Card Fan

Tonight I have had the side off my case, stopping each fan in turn to measure the noise levels (PC was idling at the time and only stoped each fan for a few seconds). Without a doubt the the noisiest of the lot was the one on board my 6800GS Graphics Card. Which is a bit of a pain!

Is there a product out there I could use to replace the heatsink and fan to quieten it down.....without needing a degree in soldering?

yes. take a look at something like the zalman VF-700 or VF-900 vga coolers, under other coolers on the ocuk site. I have a VF-900 on my X1800XT, and its silent on minimum settings, so when I'm jsut browsing and whatnot, and I can increase its speed when gaming, to improve the cooling, and its still very quite.

Best thing is, with my clear side panel, it also looks a treat.

They look a bit pricey, and I dont really wan t to have to alter the fan speed, and prefare something hands free....especially since the wife uses the PC and plays the odd game.

Ok I gave in and went for a VF-700.
