Replace 8800GTX or wait DX 11

i see first dx11 cards playg dx 10 games with good fps witch there loads of upcoming titles for this year and next.

I have 2 8800GTX's, but I only use one at a time at present because I begrudge paying out for another PSU. I run it in Windows 7 and get a 7.9 in Aero and Windows 7 GFX support. The dev handlers in windows 7 are different than Vista but if you are thinking of using SLI I can't think of using a better card from the off. As for framerates in games I would rather play a game on a console than on a PC. At least I can sit down in front of the 42" LCD and play a game in full HD on that.
Good PC games are becoming few and far between now because of the console rebirth. As long as it handles Graphics and video with comfort why bother? From what I have seen so far is that it is always a flame war over which GFX vendor is better than the other. What amazes me is that those who own ATI cards and flame Nvidia own PS3's and those who Flame ATI, own Xbox360's. The PS3 has Nvidia GFX and the Xbox360 has ATI, but the Xbox has Nvidia.
Everyone seems to be talking about FPS but not about the issue at hand. If you are willing to waste your money get a GF295 and make sure you have a decent modular PSU to go with it. A benchmark will only tell you you have gained an average of 12fps on games overall. Is that really what you wanted to hear. The Nvidia Gfx card don't come into their own until you add another in Sli mode or at least have a PhysX card. But so I read somewhere on this forum about someone using an 8800GTX as a PhysX card with a GTX285.
I am not saying it is true but like everything you hear on this forum do you really believe its true?
Nvidia's website is about as helpfull as a wet rag on an oils refinery blaize, useless. In Laymans terms they couldn't explain one end of a Graphics card from the other. The PR over there is so hyped up they need caffein to slow them down. Nvidia assumes that everyone who buys one of their cards is on the same page as them and don't explain properly power requirements and overall power draw of the Graphic card on the PSU and the Motherboard.

Nvidia and ATI do not explain to you that irrespective of what the Graphics card can do, but what it is restricted to doing because of the Power and sidebus requirements of the GPU and that every operation still requires a cleared request from the cpu. So in actual fact a lot of people will find that their GFX benchmarks are poor because the CPU slows down the GPU and that because ofinterrupt alignment (nothing to do with IRQ) you sometimes end up with the graphics you are viewing are out of sync with the game or application you are using. The only comparison I can make here is to say it is a bit like lip-syncing. Some people have to Overclock their cpu and FSB unbelieveably to tune them to the GFX card's attitude. To give movement that fluid action you perhaps saw in a demo but have yet to see it in reality.
I have cleared my conscience and am not telling you to purchase anything but beware that you are not spending money that could be spent improving another part of your life or even changing your CPU may be a better option at present than buying another Graphics card.
I still get a good 12000 average score from 3dMK06 and because that is the standard still on garmer networks I don't think it is that bad and all my setup is at stock. Unless you have got money to throw away who is interested in getting a 36000 score by overclocking on SLI on an i7 setup. money bins.

I can put food in the fridge and take it out and eat it but my PC is a box that eats my money and all I get back is grief.
A few words I used 5 years ago on this very forum. Unfortunately the records deleted my membership before 2004

First few waves of Dx11 cards are only going to be good for Dx10, just like the first waves of Dx10 cards were only good for Dx9 (and being bought for), so only reason to get a Dx11 card when they arrive is, if yours is struggling. :)

Eh  1st DX10 card was the 8800GTX which was the best around, regardless if DX9/10 were being used ;)
