Replace a 7800GT with a 210GT?

I was wondering if I could (should?) replace a 7800GT with a 210GT?

The 7800GT is currently in my work machine that runs Photoshop CS4 and takes advantage of the GPU acceleration features. I also have another machine with an Core2Duo E6600, 4x1GB RAM and a G31 motherboard that I could use to play some (older) games with, but it needs a graphics card.

Also, I want to spend as little as humanly possible

So the questions are these;
  1. would I get better performance out of the 7800GT for playing games than the 210 GT
  2. would there be any issue using a 210 GT in Photoshop CS4?
  3. do I have a better option?
(no I don't want to stretch to the 220 GT or anything that costs more than the 210 if I can help it, currently £33)

Thanks in advance :)

unfortunately the 210 is quite a pathetic card and shouldnt really be used for gaming. Im quite sure the 7800gt would still outperform it even though its a couple of generations behind. If it was me i'd put the 210 in the machine that uses photoshop and use the 7800 for gaming.

Thanks for the quick reply guys!

The 7800GT can't accelerate Photoshop so you'd be better off using the 210 in that.

Actually, I know for a fact that the 7800GT can accelerate PS CS4, because it's doing it right now as I type ;) I also know for a fact that the Radeon X1950XTX can as well..

upon doing some browsing:

this card costs £4 more than the 210, and will be an incredible amount faster and be better than that 7800

This is a thought for sure, pity the card's not in stock - I wonder how the idle power draw of the 4650 compares to the 210 GT?

I know the 210GT is a very weak card, but from what I've read on PS CS4 it runs pretty nicely on a 9400GT with 256MB RAM - and that was one of the Adobe guys saying that, so... I'm just looking for cheap, although the fact that the 210 is likely to have driver support for a few more years yet, and supports OpenCL is a bonus, also, low power draw is always nice.

Interesting, I was under the impression only DX10 cards could do it. Some reading later tells me it runs on OpenGL, not DX, so I stand corrected :)

Hmm, looking further at those techpowerup benchmarks, even the 4550 is a better bet and there's not a lot in the power stakes, so thanks again guys, I've made my mind up to NOT get the 210 ;) I thought it might be a decent v.low power card, but actually there are loads of ther, better options - what WERE nvidia thinking releasing it?
