With the Intel stock cooler, Speedfan currently has my base temp at around 37C (and core temps at 65-69C) which is for the machine running fairly idly (only applications opened). When stressed this jumps up quite (say when games are played).
I've had a lot of problems with CPU's with my computer builds (the processors tend to die as soon as I attempt to mess with them) so I try to stay away from heatsinks and thermal paste if possible.
Is it worth attempting to replace the heatsink or should I just leave things as they are (I've recently picked up a games console so it's likely that the computer will just be used for software and video files).
