can you run games from an external hdd ? if yes...will they load slower ?
and do all external drives need a seperate power supply ?

I have nothing but games n a few demos on my 40gb ps3 and need to delete 'less used' games that i'd really like to keep on the drive!

USB drives can only be used for storing media (music, videos, photos) and for doing back-ups of the entire system drive. You can't use them for directly storing games, demos or save files.

External hard-drives need a dedicated power supply, portable hard-drives (those based on smaller 2.5" HDDs) don't. I personally use a WD Passport with my PS3 for storing all my media on, works wonderfully.

You can go bigger but how much space do you need? I seem to have quite a bit on mine and still have about 160gb free. I even have about 20 demos which I'll probably never play again which must average 1.5gb each. 250/320 seems to be the best price/size to get at the moment. If you have use for 500gb then go for that.

have ordered one from here :)

one of the games I am still playing is assassins creed but looks like it's a copy protected save so there's no way to transfer it to the new hdd

the trophies are linked to my psn account though, so how does that work ?
