Replace i7 920 (C0 Stepping) with 17 930?

i'd say no, but it depends why you have asked?

your sig indicates your already running at 4ghz. A good overclocking chip is never guaranteed.

You may get a poor clocking 930 and not be able to hit 4ghz without a lot of volts.

so i'd say stick with what you've got and if your looking for a good upgrade maybe a new gfx card?

I did that and i am not happy with the "upgrade".The 930 i got will only clock a little higher than my c0 and temps arent great with it either.
So imo no would be my answer unless you can get hold of the batch number first to see if its a good or bad one.

Well, C0 stepping is said to run hot + use more power, but I would stick where you are. I have my D0 stepping i7 all at stock with stock cooling as I don't see the need to OC :)

Mind, more ram would be nice (12gb instead of 6gb :))

Skip it and save up for the upcoming I7 970 (Locked hex core @ 3.2 Ghz, 32 nm, uses less power and runs cooler than 45 nm).

Yea, the I7 930 is for people buying for the first time. For people wanting an upgrade from the I7 920, there will be the I7 970 released in Q3.

Im not going to bother with changing my motherboard or graphics now, just save up for that CPU and sell my I7 920.

Really not worth it. You are looking at a couple of hundrd MHz at stock and not much more overclocked and that's if you are lucky with the chip. It's just not worth the hassle.
