Replace Killer WIFI Card

Hi

I want to replace the killer wifi card with an Intel one on my Z270X GAMING 9 motherboard. I haven't removed the old card so I don't know what card type it is but I found a picture of the slot on the internet. Is the slot a standard m.2 slot? Please see red-circled slot:

If you look closer, it says m2 slot next to it. There's a shroud over it so you'll have to remove it before you can access the slot.

Most of the m2 wifi slots I've seen accommodate the card horizontally. The wifi card on this board is vertical. Are both types of slot the same?
