Is it worth replacing my 2gig Corsair XMS2-6400C5 for some PC8500 or better PC6400 memory, or should I get another 2gig of the same memory?

BTW I use my pc primarily for gaming

imho neither mate. i got 2gigs team xtreeme 6400c4 and its more than enough for gaming with e6850 @ 3.9ghz. although they do say that you need more memory with vista. why do you think you need more/better memory

Seen this thread earlier & was going to ask if you had Vista.

I agree that 4GB is better as Im planning on getting 4GB soon as well.

I think the only RAM you need to make sure is TOTALLY matched is any RAM containing the Micron D9's (like mine:() but i'm not sure. If your RAM does contain the D9's then you will need to either buy the same RAM (Or RAM containing the D9's) or replace your current RAM.

RAM that doesn't contain the Micron D9 chips might not have to be matched to the exact same chips but im not sure.

I belive what I have said is correct but I would also wait for someone else to pop along and either confirm what I have said or say it's rubbish...

Hope this helps, Doug.

well I have just purchased Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x2GB)
to go with Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX (2x1GB) which will be used in the p5e Motherboard "getting that today" along with Vista 64 only difference between them is the voltage off the ram, at a slight variation.

I've heard some games, Crysis is particular, run better with 4gig ram.
