My 8800 in the system in my sig just crapped out. Can anybody recommend something to replace it? The cheaper the better, but it would be nice to have a bit of a performance improvement over the 8800. Though I mainly use it for eve online @ 1900x1200 so doesn't need to be too over the top. May use it for other stuff in the future though...

I'm in New Zealand, so the prices probably won't mean that much to y'all. But shopping around it looks like a 5770, 4890 or GTX260 are around my budget, lol. 5850 is looking just a wee bit much.

Thanks chaps; I'm leaning towards the 5770. The 4890 seems pretty find to hard in stock anywhere around here and I like the idea of the cooler\lower power consumption and DX11 support of the 5770. And I'm more interested in something relatively cheap to replace the 8800 than huge performance gains; as long as performance is similar to the 8800GTX I'll be happy.

Hmm, come to think of it... I could possibly stretch to a 5850. (Though I'll no doubt get an earful from the mrs on the price)

But is it really worth it with the rest of my system? I doubt I'll upgrade anything else in the system unless it breaks; rather just replace the whole system at some point. Would the 5850 be worth it over the 5770 or would the rest of the system bottleneck it to the point it wouldn't matter?

Thanks guys; went ahead and grabbed a 5770. So far the games I've tried seem real smooth and it's nice and quiet compared to the cooler I had on the 8800, lol. Relatively cheap too, so I'm a happy camper. Only issue is my x-fi stopped working after I put it in, but looks like a driver issue, so I'll post in audio section about it. Thanks for the advice.
