So forgetting the non availability what (if any) single card solution would offer a noticeable improvement over my current Sli system as per sig.

6950X Sli Titan x (Pascal) 32gb DDR 3200mhz

Why, well its 4.5 years old and I want to build a new water cooled rig, I might even go new CPU and new mobo and I am not beholden to team red or green I've flipped between the two over the last 25 years.

New CPU and mobo might mean the 6950x goes under the the old promi mkII (if you know then you know) sat under the desk just for a laugh but that's another story.

Thats still a powerful rig in 2021... Titan X was a £1200 card... and you have got two! Whats the issue? Poor SLI scaling or you need/want ray tracing? 3080 plays everything at 4K i have tried so far, but your rig probably does as well?

The problem I am having with Sli is that every few weeks something updates and makes Nvidia Control Panel inoperative, I'm not sure if its a Windows update or quite what but its a pain and never easy to get it back, if you just download and reinstall it wont work. I have to uninstall everything Nvidia related and start as if its a new installation of my gfx cards.
I don't see this getting any better now Nvidia have scrapped Sli support.
The system play everything really well on 1440 Ultra settings even MSFS2020 (apart from New York type scenarios) I'm in no desperate rush but as and when want to revert to a single card, hence the question what current single card (if indeed there is one) will give a noticeable improvement, I realize I might have to wait for the next generation of cards before that card exists, after all my single card Time Spy score is still around 200th on the benchmark leader board.

I'm in a very similar situation i.e. 2 x Titan Xp's

I 'was' lucky in that most of the games I play(ed) have SLI support and to be fair the only game I've struggled achieving acceptable performance (obviously with 1 card) is CP2077 and as this isn't exactly the greatest game ever, I think I'll wait it out until Lovelace (sounds quite porno that lol)

About a year ago I thought about upgrading from 980Ti SLI to 2080Ti but decided that the performance increase would be too small to justify. But now the 3090 is available (or not :-() I'm planning that upgrade. But Titan SLI to 3090? I think that puts you in the same position I was a year ago.

I'm on 1080ti SLI after Titan Xp SLI and don't understand the control panel problems you're having. I would happily upgrade if I could get a card that would give me a decent performance boost at 4K but in the games I actually play it's pretty much a side grade for a 3090 and the uplift is unremarkable for the hassle and expense. I'm playing RDR2 and World of Warships and while WOW would benefit from a faster card RDR2 will only get a few fps more at 4K. I'm going to wait for RDNA3 or Hopper as I hate upgrading and barely noticing the difference. Also prices and availability plus the fact SLI isn't supported on the new cards means I'm happy (ish) to sit on what I have for another 12 months. Yeah i gave up on SLi/Crossfire in 2016, like many others I guess. Maybe its not a bad time to nab a 3090, given the cash you could sell the Titans for at the moment?

A 1080Ti or Titan XP / Titan Xp will get you about £400+ today as the people buying cannot get a 3080/3090 or 2000 for decent price.

I will be selling a 1080Ti and Titan Xp next weekish (not here so not hinting) as 3090 arrives on Monday so that will help as I get about 1/2 my cash back and if I was not so lazy I could have gotten more if I sold the 1080Ti earlier (sitting in its box for 1+yr as I use the Xp now) but I CBA to list it.

Seems reasonable but not sure there would be much of a market for them?

Would be a little sad to see them go as they’ve done me proud and look awesome in my SFF case lol
Yeah, always hard moving on from a nice set up like you have. They are basically 1080ti fast, which seem to be selling like hot cakes.

It is a considerable upgrade 3080/3090.

My Main rig still has 3 x 1080Tis in Tri SLI all W/C. But Main gaming rig has 3090FE. Had to use the 3090FE instead of 1080Tis for a while so comparing just GPU's and upgrade is significant with the 3090. Double the performance of a single 1080Ti + some. Then even when SLI does work 3090FE came in abit ahead. That of course discounts not everything supports SLI, and there the 3090 of course wrecks my 1080Ti.

As others mention, can get about £400-£450 it seems. I would sell mine tbh, but am a weirdo and love the way it all looks in that rig :p

Weird that your settings keep changing. Not sure what card you should get if at all im just going from sli to a 3090, sli support is a sad loss imo. But even if unofficial you can force a lot of things to run. I guess you have used nvida inspector and profiler ? https://www.nvidiainspector.com/

I’ve not tried Nvidia Inspector so will give it a go.
The way Nvidia Control Panel fails is odd, for example one day play WoW maxed out in 1440 then the next launch the game it’s chronically slow hardly responding go into Nvidia CP and it won’t launch, go into Device manager and only one gfx card appears on the tree.

Damn updates - I take it you are on W10? Try O&O Shutup10

https://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10

Turn off updates completely, telemetry and loads of stuff. Leaves a machine stable on current drivers etc. Of course you can still manually update.
