Got an aging SBS2003 R2 server with a 100Mb network card.
Going to replace it with a Gigabit network card.

BT business broadband connecting to a Draytek 2830n router and then to switches and on to Client PCs & to the Server.
Router is handling DHCP.

Am I correct in saying that I have run the CEICW again?

install network card > ensure it shows in device manager > change ip configuration of new network card ? I think thats all there is to it!

Thats what I thought(and I did) as well!
But seems not, our network printer(SMB) is not communicating with the shared folder(for scanned documents) of the server.

did you give the new network card the exact same IP configuration as the old one? You may have to remove the settings from the old card so they can be applied to the new one.

I noted down the settings and made all the settings to go as Automatic.
Then I removed the old NIC and installed the new NIC and set all the properties as I had in the old one.

Can you access the scan share from a workstation? Double check the permissions on the share/folder. The printer will be using a username to access the share. Has its password expired or have you made any password changes?

Yes the scan share folder is shared to all with full control to every one.
Printer is using a user name with Admin privileges.
Password is set to never expire - I have changed to password to an easier one to remember for testing purposes since yesterday.
But so far no luck!

Good news is we are going for a brand new server very soon.

So its a not a 2 nic set up with ISA server? If it is, definitively run the wizard.

Have you changed the password on the copier to reflect the password change on the server?

Just 1 NIC.
Yes I have changed the password on the copier, even tried creating a user with out a password.

Can you do a screen shot of the configuration page of the copier with the server settings on it and also an IPCONFIG /ALL on the server so we can have a look at the settings.

Have a look at the security event log and filter to show failures only and see if you can see anything in there with the same IP address as the copier.

Also, if you've finished with that temp account with no password, deactivate it just in case.

I will check the event logs soon.
Temp account is disabled again.

Thanks

Internetz is back on! yey! I windows update is working and email notifications are on again.
It was the router blocking the new NIC.
But scan to folder issue is still the same.

edit:
I have ran the CEICW several times.

Sorry for the delay, was setting up some new PCs.
I will post a screen shot and will take the second DNS out tomorrow.
Funny thing is, scanner can be setup to send files to any other pc in the network!
I have now now created a share in another pc to store scanned docs

Sorry for the long absence!

I have removed the second DNS from the server.
Checked the security logs but there is no errors relating to DNS.

A good thing came out of all this though!
Now I have set up scan profiles for individual users in the scanner and created a shared folder each(with proper security permissions) in individual PCs.

This way is some what better in day to day use for the users because now they can get the scanned documents to their own PCs(and send to any other PC they want as well) with out sifting through a plethora of documents scanned by every one to one shared folder in the server.

There is still the matter of not knowing what happened in the first place and what has to be done to correct this, but since we are getting a new server I can start from scratch :)

Thank you all for the support, I do appreciate the time and thoughts all of you have put on this.
