replace optical drive with hdd?

more questions in my never ending search for a laptop!
looking at a hp probook wondering if it is possible to replace the optical drive with a hdd - i have an external dvd, and storage would be more useful than a dvd drive, have seen on some of the site where you can build your own that they offer this but just interested if anyone on here has done it??

could you not just physically switch them over if it doesn't work?
having a good nosey around google, definitely looks possible cheers
